Many-electron singularity in X-ray photoemission and X-ray line spectra from metals
It is pointed out that the spectra of x-ray induced fast photoelectrons from metal should have a characteristic skew line shape resulting from Kondo-like manyelectron interactions of the metallic conduction electrons with the accompanying deep hole in the final state. The same line shape should also occur for the discrete line spectra of x-rays emitted from metals. This mechanism could account ...
متن کاملsimulation and comparison of radiology x-ray spectra
monte carlo method is a very accurate method to optimize medical diagnostic radiology spectra and simulation of radiation transportation. using mcnp code, radiology and mammography attenuated x-rayspectraweresimulated.the ipem report number 78 was used as a reference to compare with the geant4 and mcnp simulations because of its popularity and wide availability. the results of geant4 in 40kev s...
متن کاملX-ray and soft γ-ray spectra of Broad-Line Radio Galaxies
We study X-ray and soft γ-ray spectral properties of nearby Broad-Line Radio Galaxies (BLRGs) using data from Ginga, ASCA, OSSE and EXOSAT. The X-ray spectra are well fitted by an intrinsic power-law continuum with an energy index of α ∼ 0.7, moderately absorbed by a cold medium. In addition, the Ginga spectra show fluorescent Fe Kα lines with an average equivalent width of ∼ 100 eV, and, in so...
متن کاملAnisotropic illumination in AGNs The reflected component. Comparison to hard X-ray spectra from Seyfert Galaxies
We calculate the reflection component predicted by the anisotropic illumination model of Henri & Petrucci 1997. This component appears to be more important than for isotropic models. The overall X/γ spectrum is found to be strongly angledependent. When the accretion disc is seen with a nearly edge-on orientation the reflection hump is weak, while a face-on viewing angle leads to a proeminent re...
متن کاملMonte Carlo simulation of x-ray spectra generated by kilo-electron-volt electrons
We present a general algorithm for the simulation of x-ray spectra emitted from targets of arbitrary composition bombarded with kilovolt electron beams. Electron and photon transport is simulated by means of the general-purpose Monte Carlo code PENELOPE, using the standard, detailed simulation scheme. Bremsstrahlung emission is described by using a recently proposed algorithm, in which the ener...
